I'm linking up to Real Momma, Real Style today! You should too!
For years I have told my husband that you never wear navy and black together. That's what I always heard, and truthfully, it always looked weird. Until a few years ago when the dark, dark rinse jeans became so popular - and I LOVE, by the way - because I think they are so figure flattering on anyone; then when you paired a nice fitted black top with the dark jeans, it made sense.
And then somewhere recently I read that it was okay. Not sure where I read it, but it was as if I finally had permission to try.
Now you won't exactly be able to tell in these photos - which is why I think it wasn't so scary for me to try it. BUT what I did was pair this stripe skirt with black tights, shoes and fitted top. The skirt is mainly a navy stripe with some fun, spring colors as well. Love the fit. It was an Old Navy purchase (on clearance) with the very last of my Christmas money.
And you know what? I love it! I love the combination. Mind you, this was a safe way to try it, but now I think I may venture out and try it with more obvious pieces. We'll see.
And for now my resident photographer is my sweet, 9 year old son. And I am grateful for his skill.

Shoes: my favorite Gianni Bini black wedges that desperately need sole repair

I Love this skirt! I wore it on my blog this week! Such a beautiful, spring staple!
