This week's workouts were scheduled as follows:
Sunday: rest

Tuesday: 4
Wednesday: 3
Thursday: 4

And I'm happy to report that I got in almost every workout. I also ran last Sunday for 3.4 miles to make up for the two days I missed last week. They were nice, easy miles. My Saturday run (today) I decided to do on the treadmill because really it was my only option. And seven miles on the treadmill would have been doable. I watched two episodes of a show I like on Netflix; however, I had to pick up my kiddos so I had to cut it back to only six.
Since I'm also doing HR training right now and trying to keep my HR around 145, my pace is slow. Think turtle slow. And I knew with the length of the run I would have to keep the pace the same so my HR didn't go up (it did anyway). So it took me 72 minutes to run 6 miles. Can I just tell you I used to be able to run 6 miles in less than an hour?
Why is getting older necessary? Why? Because I fully blame the changes in my body, running pace, and overall fatigue on age. Don't get me wrong. I don't feel old one bit. But the way my body has responded to birthdays since 2012, I'm certain that my body knows it's aging. :)
Since this is my first, big race, I am not paying close attention to run specifics like tempo runs or negative splits; however, when I'm on the treadmill, I do try to increase my speed a little with each mile. I'm just trying to get my legs solid underneath me.
I may begin to incorporate speedwork and hills into my runs in the next four weeks and then taper as the schedule dictates.
It was a better week for running, and I paid closer attention to my fuel as well. Putting good stuff in helps my runs be more productive, less painful and more enjoyable. :)
Everyone loves an enjoyable run.
Now, what I don't understand is this...there is no way I ran a 5'23" mile. If you were chasing me with a knife I probably couldn't run that fast. So I feel certain that my GPS was off a little this am. But, I had to post it anyway - because you know, I probably won't ever have a mile time that fast ever.
