Tools for my half-marathon: Hydration

I am certainly no expert. I'm an amateur racer at best, but I have been learning from an amazing runner about what I might need during my first race.

Each day this week I will highlight one thing I will be using during this race. The most important thing any runner needs is hydration.

The race I chose is a cup-free race. They recommended the Hydra Pouch for the rapid fill water containers they will have on the course. Here's mine.

I ordered mine early last week, and it arrived really quickly. My receipt had a hand-written note on it from the great person who packed it for me. I love personal touches like that.

At each aid station you simply pinch it to make the opening wider, fill up the pouch, and then release the pinch and drink from the spout. You either drink all the water or toss out what you don't drink. It's dishwasher safe. I love that, too. Did I mention it's BPA free? So many things to love about this product.

I will be trying it out before the race, but not in an exact race environment. Duh...there are no aid stations on my morning runs. But, there are water fountains.

Happy running!

*I did not receive any compensation or product for this post. I simply ordered it on my own and am trying it out. If I don't love it, I will post about that too. I won't be able to fully make that decision until after the race; however, I am really excited about it. I usually don't carry any water on my runs unless it's summer in Texas and heat above 100 degrees. Yuck.
